Don’t ever wear something that doesn’t flatter you.
Don’t ever wear anything that looks cheap.
Don’t give up on yourself just because you’re married or have kids. They deserve the best of you.
Don’t worry about the three numbers; weight, age, size – style and sex appeal are above those.
Don’t forget what it’s like to feel pretty.
Don’t buy something just because it’s cheap. Or because it’s expensive, for that matter.

Do find your own style, and stick to it. Fashion and style are different things.
Do find inspiration in what others wear – but never copy. You’ll look like the cheap rip-off.
Do spend time on yourself, and make an effort.
Do be untradintional – that’s how a trend is created.
Do show some skin – but legs or cleavage, never both.
Do make sure your underwear isn’t showing – unless it’s intentional.
Do break the old fashion rules ; sure you can mix prints, wear white whenever you want, match your mani and pedi …
Do feel great about how fantastic you always look! Always!

don’t buy something just because it is on sale. don’t wear a trend that looks bad on you. do have a signature look- jewelry, style, fragrance or tattoo…something that still says
’you" no matter what style you are wearing. do invest in afew good basics that are timeless. you can always change the look with current accessories.

These are personal, but they’re rules to me!

DO wear seasonal clothing. It’s fun to celebrate the changes, and no fashion faux pas looks as dumb as weather-inappropriate clothing.
DO invest in well-fitting bras, and get help from a knowledgeable sales staff.
DO wear shoes you can walk in. Wincing and limping look way worse than boring shoes.
DO nicely tell admirers where you got a piece they like. They might be really frustrated and unconfident about style, and your boots (or whatever) could inspire an outfit they actually feel good about. If it’s a mass-produced garment, it’s hardly your intellectual property.
DO get clothes altered. It’s not prohibitively expensive, and a lot more clothes will fit you well.

DON’T let your underwear or bra — or their seam lines — show in public, except maybe at clubs and outdoor jam band concerts.
DON’T leave the house wearing scrunchies or those clam-jaw hair clips. You’ll look like you belong in a face soap commercial.
DON’T put much stuff in your pants pockets. You’ll look like a dude. Or like your pants don’t fit.
DON’T obsess over trends, especially colors. No one but a serious fashionista remembers “last year’s colors,” and that’s no reason to abandon the colors that look best on you or fill your closet with colors that look bad on you. Unless you really enjoy following trends, treat “in” and “out” as marketing ploys.
DON’T wear white or bright red to a wedding. You will be seen as competing with the bride.

Traditional rules I ignore:
-I WILL NOT wear pantyhose or slips with dresses. Tights are fine. Shapewear is fine. But pantyhose and slips are useless.
-I WILL wear white after Labor Day.
-I WILL wear boots in summer.
-I WILL wear ponytails often (admittedly to the detriment of my hair).
-I WILL wear brown and black together.

Don’t wear anything that make you uncomforable just because it is in style, particularly shoes, you will regret ill fitting shoes.

Personal rule of mine:
-Don’t wear flip-flops except at the beach or in the locker room.

Do: Pair a trendy piece with more classic pieces. Instantly awesome.

Do: Not be afraid to break the rules!
