We took our example male to the Co-op (read: more affordable) section of Barneys. Investing in good basics is a necessity. As a male, all you really need is one versatile pair of jeans and two other pairs of trousers. Yes, men can have style.
A well cut, slim fit black jean is flattering because it elongates the body, and shaves about 10 pounds off the bottom. I mean, seriously, compare the pictures. Skinny jeans and trousers should be paired with an equally narrow shoe like a Converse, or perhaps some sexy combat boots.
A plaid button-down shirt, with sleeves rolled up, is also a good casual alternative. Engineers love to wear those short sleeve button down shirts which make women want to light themselves on fire. A plaid button down also transitions better for after-work gatherings.
Finally, men shouldn’t forget about accessories. A tasteful belt, watch, skinny tie, are all things that can be easily looked over, but are so important to tie the look together.
