When I was younger I had a dream. It started in a rocket, vampires were involved, and by the time I woke up I had somehow saved the world. But I also had another dream (EXTREME FABRICATION ALERT), and that was that all the people’s of the world would be united in their desire to dress appropriately for every occasion. Imagine my surprise to find that dream realized through Chictopia.
Whether we take great care in choosing our clothes or simply pick items off the floor – and I do both – we are making a statement about ourselves and how we think. And I’d rather take the time to see how I can make this fact work in my favour than waste breath railing against the superficiality of human existence. As the novelist Linda Grant writes on her blog, you can’t have depths without surfaces. Here’s to thinking about surfaces.
